Doing a live talk show within the virtual reality universe continues to be successful for Reverend Kyle and the developers of the Riftmax Theater app.

After the success of the first episode last week, we decided that a follow-up episode would need to take things a step further. We needed to have another group of well-known guests, amp up the shtick, and wow the audience with a big ending.

Developers MikeArms and Caine were busy this past week trying to add new elements to the Riftmax stage and bring in a higher level of control to the show’s dynamics. They tweaked the look, added more camera angles, and even created a backstage control system. A few new animations were added to the NPC Band, and a few surprise assets were added for the shows big finale.

While all of this was happening, I was working hard on hashing out the script and lining up guests with the help of fellow VR enthusiast, Kogsworth, and my sidekick, Flake.

In this episode, we had well known YouTuber and VR Enthusiast, Emart as our first guest. He was blown away at the feeling of presence on the stage and how far we had come to be able to do a show like this. He then shared his favorite VR games, and a video trailer for his YouTube channel.

Next up was developer, Anticleric. After “The Room” and “The City” were such a success, he has taken the VR world by storm with “Technolust”. He actually announced the latest version of his game while on the show, and shared a video of it with us. It looks amazing.

To add another first in virtual reality, we added a news segment which was filmed live from the Metacraft server with our Riftmax News correspondent, Gunter.  He shows off the hard work of the Minecraft players who created a replica of the Black Sun, from Neal Stephenson’s novel, Snow Crash.  This piece is especially witty, as Gunter appears to be looking at the wrong building.

Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, our last guest was not able to make it.  Oculus Community Manager, Cybereality, was scheduled to be our last guest, and was very sorry that he couldn’t connect, and will try to make it to the next show. As a tradeoff, we replaced his interview with a mind-blowing effect. In my very own “Oprah Moment”, I announced that everyone in the audience would be receiving a virtual DK2, which were then shot out of a canon by Riftmax developer, MikeArms.

There is also a behind the scenes “gag reel” available.

We want to thank all of you who watched and participated in this event.  There will be more to come.
