100ft Robot Golf is Coming to PlayStation VR, Trailer and Screenshots Revealed

Another show, another slew of PlayStation VR titles announces, with some surprising additions. One of the more left-field titles is a new IP from developer No Goblin, is a kerrazy looking mini-golf game involving of all things, 100ft Robots – all built for virtual reality.

The tagline for one of the most unique looking PSVR titles we’ve yet, announced at Sony’s PlayStation Experience weekend, currently under way in San Francisco, is “Impossibly Large robots Fight for Par” – this is 100ft Robot Golf, being developed from the ground up for Sony’s PlayStation VR platform by No Goblin.

Ostensibly the new title, which has you taking the form of the titular, Gundam-style mecha, as you putt your way through different cities, laying waste to them as you go. Other than the setting and the bizarre choice of player characters, it looks and sounds like your standard Japanese-style golf title, even down to the cheesy synth music tracks.

100ft Robot Golf is a real time golf game where you get to control impossibly large robots on their quest for par. Never get your ball stuck behind a pesky tree or skyscraper ever again! Just swing your golf club to smash even the tallest buildings out of the way – or into the way of your robot golfing buddies.

The title seems to have a emphasis on story and perhaps more than a few tongue-in-cheek references to various well-known Japanese, mecha-based anime series. This is actually emphasised at the dedicated website.

100ft Robot Golf’s unique solo campaign mode reveals the real stories and experiences of today’s robot golf pilots. Experience the excitement, romance, and thrills of driving one hundred feet of raw golfing power through some of the cheapest ’90s-inspired mecha animation ever committed to screen.

The title will appear ‘some time’ next year, presumably alongside the PlayStation VR itself, due to launch in Q2 2016.
