This year’s Proto Awards, the premiere awards events celebrating the VR industry, has had it’s nomination submission date extended due to “tremendous” response.

The 2015 Proto Awards are to be held at AVALON in Hollywood on September 22nd, to coincide with Oculus’ ‘Connect’ event. The event organisers, non-profit organisation ‘The Virtual Reality Foundation’, say they’ve decided to extend the submission for nomination entries “given the level of enthusiasm”. Those interested now have until July 30th to get their entries to the board by filling out this online web form.

The submission guidelines have also been relaxed according to a recent press release:

In the spirit of further inclusiveness, we have decided to open up submissions to developers of any experience that has been exhibited in public. Qualifying public venues include, but are not limited to conventions and conferences like E3 and GDC, art museums and VR expos or meetups. We are working to facilitate exhibition of prototype experiences for unreleased hardware for our voting membership and hope to update you soon on those efforts.

Based in the UK, Paul has been immersed in interactive entertainment for the best part of 27 years and has followed advances in gaming with a passionate fervour. His obsession with graphical fidelity over the years has had him branded a ‘graphics whore’ (which he views as the highest compliment) more than once and he holds a particular candle for the dream of the ultimate immersive gaming experience. Having followed and been disappointed by the original VR explosion of the 90s, he then founded RiftVR.com to follow the new and exciting prospect of the rebirth of VR in products like the Oculus Rift. Paul joined forces with Ben to help build the new Road to VR in preparation for what he sees as VR’s coming of age over the next few years.
