Cross-platform Dungeon Crawler ‘Demeo’ Coming to Quest & PC VR in May

Resolution Games announced that its upcoming tabletop-style dungeon crawler, Demeo, is officially coming to Oculus Quest and PC VR headsets on May 6th.

Update (April 6th, 2021): Resolution Games announced that on May 6th, 2021 Demeo is headed to Quest and Rift via the Oculus Store, and SteamVR-compatible headsets via Steam. The game will be priced at $30.

The cross-platform game will also launch on traditional PC gaming platforms as a non-VR title that’s playable with other PC and VR gamers. The studio says more info on that will come at a later date.

Original Article (March 3rd, 2021): The studio says the multiplayer co-op game pits up to four players against the archetypal Dungeons & Dragons-style beasts and goblins, replete with multi-sized die to combine attacks with special ability cards gathered from treasure chests throughout the various levels. Players can take on one of four classes: Guardian, Sorcerer, Assassin and Hunter.

The video shows off an interesting mix of first and third-person tabletop action. We’re eager to see just how mechanics are divided between the two realms. Whatever the case, it seems Resolution Games is grasping the zeitgeist by its FFP2 mask by offering socially-distant tabletop fans a VR-native take on the genre.

“It’s so easy to get lost in the different environments of the game,” said Tommy Palm, CEO of Resolution Games. “Are you sitting around a table playing a board game with friends in your parents’ basement? Yes. Are you a hero exploring levels of a dungeon and facing hordes of monsters and traps with your fellowship of warriors? Also yes. It’s this combined experience that’s so reminiscent of traditional tabletop gaming with friends that makes Demeo such an engaging experience.”

Demeo is slated to release sometime this year on Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift, and on SteamVR headsets. Notably, Demeo also set to be accessible by traditional monitors via Steam, which will allow cross-platform play between PC and VR headsets. You can wishlist Demeo on Steam here.

Game looks fun and it would be so much extra welcome in this horrible day and age but I need friends with VR or singleplayer :(

What I need is a non Oculus Standalone headset I can promote to friends if I’m to ever play anything like this in VR. So far I’m the VR guy that gives cool demos every once in a while but non of them seem to be willing to buy into VR just jet for all the usual reasons. For most of my friends Facebook is not an option, as goes for me. A cheap Quest 2 like device that is not actually crap would go a long way convincing people to buy into VR.

I bought my nephew a Quest 2 for Xmas but his dad won’t let him use it because of Facebook… :(

Yeah and I’d like a cheap “Tesla like” car that wasn’t made by Elon Musk. And a cheap “AWS like” services that isn’t funded by an online retailer that pays their minimum wage.

If there was no FB there would be no Quest 2, period,

Those companies are huge, and if we’re not able to accept/applaud the products/services that are actually great while criticizing the ones we find inappropriate how will they learn to improve their way. It can’t be that we either buys into the whole of FB offering or ban them completely.

I mean, I agree shoulda/woulda/coulda’s are unrealistic, but FB’s abuse of its users’ data is already very spooky, and the amount of data a headset can gather is of a different order. Complaints about that aren’t off-base. Fossil fuels are great at producing energy, they can also severely screw up the planet for all life as we know it.

Now I am getting excited. Looks cool.

  • This looks very cool. Really looking forward to trying this out.

  • Fans of board games will love it!
