New ‘Behemoth’ Trailer Offers a Glimpse into Immersive VR Combat, Coming to All Major Headsets Late 2023

Skydance Interactive, the studio behind popular zombie shooter The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, revealed Behemoth back in October during Connect, showcasing a very brief teaser that left a lot to the imagination. Now the studio has released a longer cinematic trailer, which at least gives us a better idea of what the game will be all about.

At the Game Awards last night, Skydance Interactive dropped its first full-length trailer for Behemoth, an action RPG slated to release on all major headsets in late 2023.

Here’s how Skydance describes the new trailer:

“The cinematic trailer showcases Behemoth’s brutal yet tactical VR combat and breathtaking traversal gameplay as players conquer monolithic beings in a grim, unforgiving world.”

Granted, it’s a cinematic trailer with pre-rendered footage, so it’s probably not representative of actual gameplay. We’ve seen some pretty familiar combat mechanics elements in The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners though, albeit gussied up to appeal to the AAA crowd, so it’s likely we’ll see a lot of the basic interactions when gameplay is revealed at some point.

The studio also offered up some fresh info on what to expect from the story-driven game:

“In Behemoth, players will explore the plague-ravished wasteland of a once glorious empire, where its inhabitants are driven mad and cities have fallen to ruin. In glorious VR fashion, players’ bodies and minds will be tested as they combat towering colossal giants called Behemoths. Raw strength won’t be enough, however, as they must use various tools in their arsenal to defeat these gigantic creatures and the other nightmarish enemies that scour this brutal world in their quest for a possible cure.”

Behemoth is set to launch on Quest 2, PSVR 2, and PC VR sometime in late 2023. We’ll be keeping tabs on what promises to be another skull-splitting adventure from the makers of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners.

    Really interesting.
Just hope it’s not held back because of Quest version.
But if they do a early access on Quest which they seem to do with saints and sinners 2, they can then later release the complete edition on PCVR and PSVR2

    • ViRGiN

Quest games are held back by PCVR elitists.

      • NL_VR

        Not really

        • ViRGiN

Yeah they are. Developing for magnitude of various hardware options calls only for trade offs at all fronts.

          • NL_VR

There are a lot of examples games has med held back because of Quest support.

          • ViRGiN

            Such as?

          • NL_VR

            Latest exampl is Bonelab.
You clearly can say level design was made to fit to Quest.
It doesnt have the same style of maps as Boneworks.
And there are mods that aren’t even supported on Quest

          • ViRGiN

What mods? Those little piece of shits made by little pieces of shit with no knowledge about anything to do with “optimization”?
Look at Pavlov vr that you enjoyed so much. No part of that game has any “PCVR” quality.

You gave no real example. Look at Contractors VR mods. 99% are cross-platform compatibible. But IF you want to, you can limit it to PC.
Besides, Bonelabs is dead and their mods are trash.

          • NL_VR

Bonelab would maybe been more popular if it was not adapted for Quest. As I said levels were nowhere near Boneworks design.
They are small except the empty and verry bad moon map.
What do you mean Pavlov dont have any PCVR quality?
I played both pavlov and contractors on PCVR.
PCVR versions of both games are better than the Quest 2 versions.
Only positive with contractors is that is crossplay, but I would never play or buy the Quest version.

          • ViRGiN

bonelab more popular, LMAO. PCVR boneworks died within weeks, just like every single game ever released outside the usual top 5.
Hubris still peaked out at 104 players, LMAO,best looking game, without quest port, and it sells like cold shit.

Pavlov does not have any PCVR quality. Whats up with no post processing and dynamic shadows? What’s up with the official maps? They look like counter-strike source, made by indie studio. A game that came out in 2004. It’s freaking 2023!

There are no positives in Pavlov outside of vehicles – which are never used properly in 99,99% maps.
I would never play pavlov again, no matter the hardware. RTX4090 still makes this game look like shit.
You are borderline trolling here, or are the usual low standards PCVR elitists consumer.

          • Ookami

No one ever called Hubris the peak of pcvr. Literally everyone says it’s not great. Some people just got overhyped from the graphics when it was revealed.

          • shadow9d9

Bonelab and boneworks both had poor reviews due to being bad actual games.

          • NL_VR

Still one of the Most popular games. At least Boneworks.
            It’s not games for everyone.
I played Boneworks alot so at the moment doesnt feel Bonelab bring anything new.

          • Vda

I agree with you if we talk about psvr2 and consoles in general (when they give their games to pc), but quest is the lowest base, unfortunately. Even compared to trash pc. I agree with your logic, but it doesn’t work with quest.

          • Ookami

That’s laughably wrong. Developing for PC comes with a lot of extra work, but it’s nothing developers are strangers too. The very fact that pc (flat or VR) versions of almost every game made in recent years outdoes the console version just proves that your comment is pure copium

  • Cool trailer!

  • neodraig

Let’s hope they’ll develop the game with the PSVR2 and PC in mind’, with a downgraded version for the Quest and not the opposite (with barely better textures, better framerate and resolution as it’s sadly usually the case).
WD Saints and Sinners was already a quite average looking game on PC at it’s release, let’s hope this one will look much better.

    • NL_VR

Saints and sinners had a comic book style design, it is because it is meant to be the same universe as the comic.

Still the PCVR version looks better than PSVR and a lot better than Quest.

This game does not look to have a comic style design so i hope they concentrate on PCVR and PSVR2 first, then Quest can get the watered down version.

      • neodraig

If they were aiming for comic book style, then it falls flat as it’s not even at the level The Walking Dead: A Telltale Games Series which is a PS3 (THIS game looked like a comics).
Even if it was their goal, the visuals were really average for a PC game.

        • NL_VR

Have you played Saints & sinners? graphics are clearly cell shaded so yes, “comic style”.
imagine tell tale games in VR it would look similar.

    • Paveln4

The platform has the priority it deserves based on the number of players. So hopefully PSVR2 will be popular. Because PCVR has an uninterestingly small audience for developers.

      • NL_VR

Still developers make games for PCVR,,, what are they thinking!?

        • Gabe Zuckerwell

“fck, we started making this before quest was a thing, we might as well release it for pcvr now but fck me, we’re going towards quest exclusive from now on”

          • NL_VR

            most unlikely.

          • Ookami

This game 100% started development after Quest was a thing, what are you talking about?

    • ViRGiN

Let’s hope developers makes tons of money, and to do that, they will skip PSVR2 and PCVR completly and deliver the best game possible.

  • Stef

    Stfu

  • ApocalypseShadow

Let’s hope developers make tons of money. And to do that, skip the limited, mobile chip hardware completely and deliver the best game possible. Because you can’t deliver the best games when the hardware can’t even run Skyrim or RE7 that released in 2016. Let alone RE8 in 2022.

Let Behemoth get the development it deserves with higher detail, better AI, better physics, and a bigger game that will actually fit in memory and not be held back. Just like if RE4 gets that rumored support on PS VR 2, we’ll see a clear example between PS2 quality and current gen quality.

    • NL_VR

Nothing wrong with Re4 on Quest.
its clearly the best version of (original)Re4 today after all theese years.
i would love Quest to become a “retro vr machine” were old good games remade to VR.
Dr Beef really showed the way in the beginning.

    • shadow9d9

Trailer marketing at its finest. You have no clue if the game will be good or not.

  • ViRGiN

Can’t wait for your next shitty post praising “at least we are still getting PCVR games”

  • Ookami

They clearly show that there are way more than just zombie enemies. Did you even watch the trailer?

  • Marcelo Collar

Saints & Sinners is my favorite VR game ever, side by side with Alyx. Super hyped for this one.

  • Jonathan Winters III

Ummm, where’s the glimpse of gameplay you speak of? This trailer has no gamplay at all, nor ANY images of the game itself.
