The extremely promising looking space combat shooter Everspace, focused on accessibility and adrenaline rather than space trading, has completed its Kickstarter campaign, raising a whopping 420,252 EUR ($477,139) of it’s original 225,000 EUR target.
Everspace is a space shooter which eschews the trappings of other space sims, Elite Dangerous being a particularly good example. Instead, developers Rockfish team are focused on honing accessible, tight gameplay mechanics and pushing the envelope for graphics in the genre.
The team gathered over 10,000 backers for the campaign which promised virtual reality support on release for the game. The title’s arresting visuals and loving attention to detail, especially when it comes to the art of space dogfight carnage, puts this title to the top of our most anticipated list right now.
That’s not the end of Rockfish games’ funding story though as they’re continuing their campaign, outside of kickstarter via a dedicated funding page. The team are offering early access packages (for both alpha and beta versions of the game) all the way to a full collector’s edition, with a copy of the game and various extras. Looks as if the team are planning to ship the title towards the back end of 2016.
We’re looking forward to getting our hands on the title and to finding out more about Rockfish’s plans for VR support, which is currently scant at best. We’ll let you know when we do.
