Developers dSky have just launched a public beta of their Oculus Rift DK2 compatible virtual reality Orrery, Celestrion.
It’s an extremely polished looking application the allows you to play with a “…working heliocentric 3d model of our solar system.” and to “Learn the basic facts about each of the planets, and witness them and their moons in accurate orbital relation to each other.” The interface is clean, well designed and thought out, and there’s a wealth of information on tap here. Once again demonstrating that educational applications of virtual reality may well be a powerful use of the technology in the near future.
