Why do you recommend an expensive headset with low resolution, full of flaws for a lot of money?
HP Reverb G2 or Oculus Quest or Valve Index or Samsung Odyssey+ is the only option which makes sense.

    • ViRGiN

Yeah, they really lack news material so now they advertise they did not recommend before.

Get $192 of an hour from Google!… Yes this is Authentic as I just got my first payout and was really awesome because it was the biggest number of $24413 in a week…(b4598)… It seems Appears Unbelievable but you won’t forgive yourself if you do not check it >>>> http://www.LifestylesLinks.com |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

If they all were available in all markets, I think you’d have a strong point, but even in 2020 the Vive HMDs are available in a number of countries where these alternatives are not. And as much as I like my Odyssey+, if I was forced to choose, I’d probably take the Cosmos Elite’s 1st gen basestation tracking over WMR’s 1st gen markerless tracking.

      • TechPassion

Honestly WMR tracking is great these days. Now SteamVR has re-center button and if something happens you just need 1 click to be back in the central pivot point. Just check youtube for videos of people playing games with WMR headsets. It is very good. Could have been ideal, but it is not ideal, yet very good.

        • James Cobalt

Like I said, I have an Odyssey+ (upgraded from original Odyssey), so I’m pretty familiar with it. I still use it now and then (like today as my Knuckles are RMA’d for the 4th time…) and prefer it over Oculus Link’s inconsistent latency. I can play Expert+ in Beat Saber in it… but I find it irksome. The 1st gen SteamVR Basestation tracking is still far better, and 2nd gen is better still.

Now, Reverb G2 is a completely different story. If that was available in my market, I’d take it over Cosmos Elite in a heartbeat.

          • Chris Greig

Agree. the WMR tracking as much as we use it widely with clients still doesn’t beat the consistency of base stations.. as much as I would like it to.. it’s just not there..

Not recommending anything, just making people available of sales on these devices if they were considering purchasing them.

      • TechPassion

Yes and no. Your portal forms opinions of people who don’t know VR and what MRTV tests or Tyriel.

They are just shills for the mfr anymore… their opinion smells like my a@@

  • Mateusz Pawluczuk

Doesn’t make a lot of sense to purchase Cosmos considering HP Reverb G2 is $599

    • ViRGiN

Doesn’t make a lot of sense to purchase G2 considering Quest 2 is $299

      • TechPassion

Does not make sense to buy Quest 2 and then cable and then special headphones and then a good strap and pay the same, for worse experience.

        • James Cobalt

That would still be $150 cheaper than the Reverb. But I think the point ViRGiN was making is it’s a silly argument to say “it doesn’t make sense to buy A because Z is cheaper”. If it was the only factor, then yeah… you can’t beat the Quest 2 (don’t forget the cost of a PC!), but you wouldn’t say “Doesn’t make a lot of sense to purchase a Manhattan condo considering this houseboat in Ohio is cheaper”. Price is just one of many factors, and often not the primary one.

          • TechPassion

Do you have wireless and high-quality headphones for Quest 2? No. Count their price in. Sony MDR etc. It is about 200-300 EUR.

          • James Cobalt

I still think that’s completely besides the point; if price was the only factor (which would be silly, as is the point), you’re not taking into account things like speaker pipes vs isolating headphones. But sure, I’ll bite. In the USA, the official Oculus partner headphones are $50 for buds and $100 for cans. That means the headset $299 + elite strap $50 (or 3rd party Elite knockoff for $25) + cans $100 (or partner buds for $50 or 3rd party for $15) + Link $79 (or 3rd party for $25) = $364 – $528. Still quite a bit cheaper than the Reverb G2 – and more flexibility at that. That’s not to say Quest 2 is the smarter option for YOU, because going off price alone is foolish.

FWIW I have two pairs of MDR 7506s and they were each under $100 USD new. But I don’t use them with Quest; if I’m using the Quest I use a $7 interconnect cable for my Bose QCIIs cans.

          • tyler

            Quest 2 $300
Das strap $100 +20$ if you want it nice or 3$ zip ties and d ring home depot ;)
            Tp link ax1500 $70

for $470 you have a comfortable all in one headset that supports perfect wireless Pc Vr with tracking thats still better than the g2 over wifi haha.

        • shadow9d9

No need for headphones. It is fine as it is . No need for a cable, as you can do wireless easily. A good strap is 50, so 350 vs 600. Pretty substantial.

  • I hoped for a bigger discount :(

    • TechPassion

Don’t waste your money on this crap. Samsung Odyssey+ (if you buy it for ~200 USD ) is better than this thing and 2-3 times cheaper. I owned Odyssey+ for 2 years and know what I am talking about. Better OLED screen, bettter audio, great experience. Otherwise G2 or Quest 2 is not a bad idea too.

      • Chris Greig

Ironically despite being one of the only cosmos fans around that I know I only use my odyssey+ at home because it is just good enough and extremely problem free. (in our studio we have a variety of headsets for different client projects)

  • Nr4ge

Do not buy!!! Have not been any updates on this headset since July. Tracking still really bad and costumer support is bad. The price for this headset is extreme. To upgrade the headset to have a good tracking u need to buy a Faceplate, 2x base stations and 2x controllers for the same price of the headset. Do not fall in to the scammers. VIVE is horrible.
