‘AR/VR Austin’ Event During SXSW Celebrates Immersive Tech, Tickets Now Available

Virtual and augmented reality is hitting this year’s South By Southwest (SXSW) multimedia festival in Austin in a big way. With more sessions and meetings involving VR than we can count, there’s one event happening during the festival for sure not to miss: ‘AR/VR Austin’, a collaboration of companies in the field offering live demonstrations of their content and hardware.

Couldn’t make it to CES or GDC this year to try out all the great virtual and augmented reality stuff? Well, among independent developers and some yet unannounced ‘special guests’, ‘AR/VR Austin’ will be featuring experiences from JauntLittlstar, Rewind; and hardware from Cyberith, Nod, OSVR, Seebright and Sixense.

If you’re in Austin for the festival, this might just be your only chance to try it all in one place.

“The impact of immersive content, and cinematic VR in particular, will be profound this year. The ability to experience music, education, travel and narrative as if you were ‘there’ is a game changing event in the way people consume content,” said Scott Brock, VP of Content at Jaunt. “SXSW and AR/VR Austin present the perfect opportunity to meet with the creators and storytellers that will push this new medium forward and to share some of our latest work.”

The event will be held on Monday, March 16th from 6PM to 10PM CDT at Vuka Austin, located just south of Downtown at 411 W. Monroe Street at the intersection of S. First and Monroe.

Tickets are now available online through Eventbrite for $18, and although not an officially sponsored event of SXSW, official badgeholders can snag a ticket to AR/VR Austin for free.

AR/VR Austin is being hosted by Praevidi with help from UploadVR and SVVR. For more information on the event, head here or email Simon Solotko, the co-founder of Praevidi and CMO of Seebright.
