Beat Saber (2018), the block-slicing VR rhythm game, has been given top honors once again, this time by PlayStation’s own 2018 Game of the Year Awards.

Created by Czech Republic-based indie studio Beat Games, Beat Saber landed the top award for Sony’s ‘Best PSVR Experience’ of 2018.

Beat Saber also nearly nabbed the top spot for ‘Best Independent Game’ too, landing in second place to The Forest.

Here’s how the ‘Best PSVR Experience’ runners-up rated:

  • First – Borderlands 2 VR
  • Second – ASTRO BOT Rescue Mission
  • Third Tetris Effect
  • Honorable mentions – Star Trek Bridge Crew: The Next Generation, and Creed: Rise to Glory

Sony’s annual GOTY awards are determined by votes cast by PlayStation blog readers, so if you don’t like the way it shook out this year, you know who to blame.

If you’re looking to launch your anger at a more definite target, you can always check out Road to VR’s 2018 Game of the Year Awards too. Spoiler alert: Beat Saber won there too (on PC).

It will flop. Just wait for it. You’ll see!

Nice one. One of my fav games of the year for sure.

  • impurekind

Yeah, it was beyond obvious to me it was going to be a hit from the very first gameplay I saw with that chick swinging and jumping around like a Jedi to some dope beats.

  • Thunk

That’s nice, but the game is best played on PC with mods and custom soundtracks.

Isaiah 5:20 King James Version (KJV)
20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

any other Christians want to step up and tell this loony bin that they’re just hurting your cause?

not to mention your fucking verse isnt relevant to anything else here. so what did u just go “hmm this would be good to drop here” out of context..

that was me and it will flop. The pc version was a success cause of the fan made songs. it sure did hit the ps store well but attention will fade crazy fast and i bet we wont hear about ps beat saber much aside from when they release dlc trying to get sales again.

plus its competitors are tetris effect and astro boy… Astro boy is cool but yeah thats its only competition i guess(since skyrim and others arent in the list) also its chosen by a panel and not by votes or sales or anything. so these are extremely biased awards.
