GUNGRAVE VR, the next Gungrave series game and prologue to next year’s Gungrave G.O.R.E., is set to blast its way onto PSVR next month.
The single-player game, which is set after the battle against the series’ silver-skinned humanoid monsters known as Orgmen, is slated to release in North America both digitally and at retail stores on December 11th, 2018.
Europe and Australia will have a head start, with digital and retail versions launching December 7th.
Gungrave VR U.N, a standalone expansion that doesn’t require the base game, is set to launch simultaneously in respective markets. Gungrave VR U.N adds three more levels to the already six-level game, a new side-scrolling and sliding mechanic, a new pair of opening and ending animated movies, and something developer XSEED Games calls a new “3D sound system.”
Users can purchase both by buying what the studio dubs the GUNGRAVE VR: Loaded Coffin Edition, which is slated to cost $40. The bundle shaves a small margin off both games; Gungrave VR will cost $30, and Gungrave VR U.N will cost $15.
Gungrave VR is said to include levels featuring both free-moving third-person mode and first-person mode.
The game features fully-voiced dialogue in English and Japanese, and text support for English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese.
Here’s XSEED’s summary of the action:
Following the battle against the Orgmen—creatures transformed by the mysterious drug, SEED—Mika Asagi has tracked the manufacturing of the narcotic (along with a whole new Orgman infestation) to South City.
With the city streets overrun by these newly formed creatures, Mika requests the assistance of Beyond the Grave (Grave, for short), waking him from 14 years of rest after his previous battle. She hopes for him to use his power to help rid the city streets of the Orgman threat and stop the flow of SEED once and for all.
In GUNGRAVE VR, players take control of Grave with his iconic set of dual guns, Cerberus, and will have to master different playstyles to take down the various foes that stand in his way. Levels consist either of free-moving third-person gameplay or first-person action that includes both stationary and mobile sections, offering players a variety of modes to help put them in the shoes of the resurrected Millennion agent himself.
With an array of shooting attacks, close-range strikes using Grave’s coffin, Bullet Time, and more, GUNGRAVE VR brings an authentic Gungrave experience to virtual reality for the very first time.
