IM360, the company behind the recent MTV VMA red carpet live stream, are heading to VR expo Immersed Europe to capture “key points” of the show in immersive 360 degree video, designed for VR viewing.

Immersed Europe, presented by the Immersive Technology Alliance (ITA), is to be held on the 3rd and 4th September at University of Murcia, Spain and promises two days of panels, exhibitions and talks for the VR enthusiast professional or enthusiast.

Given the fact that the event is built on the premise of immersion, it’s therefore fitting that 360 video specialists IM360 are stepping up to provide virtual reality friendly coverage. “We are very excited to participate in Immersed Europe. This is a fantastic way to bring industry experts together as well as giving the general public an opportunity to immerse themselves in future VR technologies. Streaming events like this in 360o and in VR is what sets us apart, it drives engagement and lets the viewers feel like they are right there,” said Myles McGovern, President of IM360.

Access to the live-streamed content will be ‘made available’ via the Immersed Europe website, and will apparently be viewable in the Oculus Rift and Gear VR.

Based in the UK, Paul has been immersed in interactive entertainment for the best part of 27 years and has followed advances in gaming with a passionate fervour. His obsession with graphical fidelity over the years has had him branded a ‘graphics whore’ (which he views as the highest compliment) more than once and he holds a particular candle for the dream of the ultimate immersive gaming experience. Having followed and been disappointed by the original VR explosion of the 90s, he then founded RiftVR.com to follow the new and exciting prospect of the rebirth of VR in products like the Oculus Rift. Paul joined forces with Ben to help build the new Road to VR in preparation for what he sees as VR’s coming of age over the next few years.

Hoping they actually do stream for the GearVR. Unfortunately the live stream for MTV did not include Gear. IM360 was one of the first to offer live streams for Gear from their office in Kelowna, BC. If they can pull this off at Immersed it will be great.
