APVRN Meetup

The Asia Pacific Virtual Reality Network (APVRN) has organized a pan-Asian online meetup in the Convrge social VR platform. The gathering will bring together eight separate VR communities from around the Asia Pacific region for talks and geographically agnostic VR mingling.

VR meetups from Brisbane, Shanghai, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Istanbul, and Abu Dhabi will all be pulling their collective members together for a single VR meetup that will feature talks from a number of speakers:

  • Lex Van Cooten (Brisbane) – Opening Remarks
  • Sami Hamid (Istanbul) – ‘Will VR Work This Time?’
  • Richard Huang – Preserving History in VR
  • Cristopher David – VR adoption in the developing world.
  • Wilf Watson (Brisbane) – Open Source Mobile VR Project

Talks are open to the public, and don’t require a VR headset to watch. Just download Convrge, pick a username and avatar, and you’ll be able to take part in the fun completely free.

APVRN’s meetup is taking place on the 25th of July in the afternoon for most Asian Pacific time zones, and early in the morning in the Western Hemisphere. To avoid confusion, check your local timezone here for the exact start time.
