‘Land of Amara’ Aims to Deliver ‘Stardew Valley’ Style Gameplay in VR

Land of Amara is an in-development VR farm simulator from PawStampStudio that aims to deliver the sort of do-it-yourself farming seen in games such as Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing, and Stardew Valley.

Created by a sole developer and still in early alpha, Land of Amara appears to have rounded out a number of important game mechanics including a fully functional construction system, merchant shops, and plenty of animals and crops to tend to.

The latest update to the early alpha build, update 1.12, now includes native support for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and Windows VR headsets. You can download Land of Amara at PawStamp’s Patreon by becoming a tier 2 supporter of the game, which requires a $3 per month contribution to the game’s development.

“The project is still in the early stages of development, but with your help, I would have the opportunity to make it an accomplished game which would potentially support further devices. My vision is to develop a fully functional farming simulator for virtual reality, inspired by games like Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley that I loved to play when I was younger,” PawStamp says.

“In the future, I would like to implement the environment around the farm, including detailed forests and caves to explore, different types of animals, changing weather and seasons. Accompanied by a village and its villagers, with whom the player can trade or even make friends.”

The game’s 1.0 alpha first debuted back in August, and since then Land of Amara has gained a number of interesting first-person tasks to go along with the diorama-style gameplay such as chopping wood, building structures with a hammer, and reading a book in the player’s house.

Since Land of Amara is still in early alpha, there’s no launch date yet for the game yet, although supporters can make feature requests and help PawStamp through the development process on its way to a fully functional farm simulator.
