Latest ‘Final Approach’ Trailer Shows New Gameplay and Mini-games

Phaser Lock Interactive’s title Final Approach, the RTS-style airport management mash up gets a new gameplay trailer showing off much more of what you’ll get up to, including a peek at mini games, fending off UFO invaders and micro-managing mini disasters.

Confirmed for an April release, the HTC Vive / Oculus Rift VR airport action game Final Approach is unique in it’s premise among VR launch games. The game asks you, the player, to “take control of the skies like never before in a full Virtual Reality world”, which in this case means guiding hordes of aircraft in and out of your airports or carriers, defending said planes from hostile forces like UFOs.

The new trailer gives a look at some of the mini-games from the full game too such as extinguishing fires and, much less glamorously, attending to ‘baggage emergencies’.

Road to VR‘s Ben Lang went hands-on with the title at Valve’s recent Content Showcase and came away impressed:

Rather than a simple survival-style flight controller game like we’ve seen on mobile, Final Approach feels like it could be excitingly approaching something of a virtual reality RTS with even more complex gameplay still to come, like “training [vehicles] to battle forest fires, perform heroic rescues and full military strikes,” say the developers.

Final Approach from Phase Lock Interactive is due to be released in April, around the time the HTC Vive, which went up for pre-order yesterday, is due to begin shipping. You can grab more details on the title at its Steam page here.
