New Version of ‘Surge’ VR Music Video Includes ‘Ultra’ Option for Beefy Graphics Cards

Surge, an impressive real-time VR music video, has been recently updated with an additional graphical setting to make the experience look even sharper for those with powerful graphics cards.

The latest version of Surge (1.1) available on Oculus Share now features an ‘Ultra’ graphics setting (previously only Low, Medium, and High), which will bump up the visual fidelity for those with graphics cards better than the Nvidia GTX 770, according to the developer.

You won’t see a huge difference between the High and Ultra settings, but any amount of increased fidelity is welcomed for this very cool experience. If you don’t have a VR headset, you can get a glimpse of the experience here:

Surge really impressed me with its abstract real-time visuals which were made with Unreal Engine 4. The use of physics and lighting, along with scene elements that grooved with the beat, show how cool it is to put yourself in VR and see something that would otherwise be impossible. In a recent article about my time in the experience, I said that “It’s only flaw is that it’ll make you wish there was more!”
