Valve itself has been working on integrating virtual reality into their Steam gaming platform for quite a while now, namely with their introduction of SteamVR, a mode that allows you to boot up Steam inside the stereoscopic 3D display of both Oculus Rift developer kits, a way that is very reminiscent of Guy Godin’s Virtual Desktop program. Steam’s VR mode, which was introduced around this time last year, also allows for web browsing and not to mention a more comfortable execution from game library to game launch—something sorely lacking at the moment (because we never want to take these things off, not even to eat).
