Registration for Oculus Connect is now open on the Connect website. The registration form collects a number of details from potential attendees, with a heavy emphasis on developers. Oculus says that they will review all applications and that developers will be given priority attendance. The price of attendance and capacity of the conference are still unknown. The company says that registration approvals will receive notification via email in the coming weeks.
Oculus Connect will be hosted in Los Angeles, California, from September 19–20 at the Loews Hollywood hotel. The company calls it “a developer conference that brings together engineers, designers, and creatives from around the world to share and collaborate in the interest of creating the best virtual reality experiences possible.” The event is open to the public, but it’s stressed that this is a “developer-centric” event. Under ‘Who should attend?’ on the Oculus Connect FAQ, the company writes, “Anyone with an interest in developing great virtual reality content: VR developers, gaming, entertainment and cinematic content makers, innovators, creative thinkers, enthusiasts and more.”
So far the Oculus VR has not announced what it will charge to attend the event. The schedule is also still being finalized, but attendees can expect workshops on VR development and keynote talks from John Carmack (CTO), Michael Abrash (Chief Scientist), Palmer Luckey (Founder), and Brendan Iribe (CEO).
SVVR Conference & Expo is a similar, independently organized conference which had its inaugural event in May. IEEE VR is a long running independent event with a focus on the professional end of the VR spectrum. IEEE VR 2014, held at the end of March, marked the conference’s 21st annual gathering.
