oculus rift hmd ad concept

Here’s something a bit different: a ‘fan ad’ I whipped up for the Oculus Rift head mounted display. This is just a concept that popped up while thinking about how Oculus Inc. might market the Oculus Rift 2.0 HMD (consumer version). What do you think?

Looks good but Halo is not really a PC game(except original which kinda sucked on PC). It is still unknown if console this gen or next will support Rift 2.0. Good concept though. FYI I check your website everyday. Can’t wait to get me Rift Dev.

Thanks for the feedback! I know Halo 4 isn’t for PC, I just happened to know of a still frame from a trailer that gave me the angle I needed; it worked for the concept : P. Same thing goes for the consumer Rift, I just grabbed a pair of ski goggles!

And thank you for your support, Pat. As someone who reads the site daily, we’d love your feedback on our beta site. If you are interested, shoot me an email: ben@roadtovr.com and I can give you access.

Speaking of that, it’s still strange that nobody in the console field seems to have realize the potential of this type of device.
It could (and it will !) change all the game mechanics known before (I couldn’t enumerate all the different possibilities).

Here’s to hoping that the Rift has the momentum to carry VR to mainstream gaming!

  • Looks nice :P Makes me want to come up with more like it! Hmm!

      Nice one, Yossi!

  • To be honest the oculus rift is the type of device which you need to experience and can hardly be described in a video or image. The posters you and Yossi present are definitely the direction you would need to go, but it still doesn’t do VR displays justice. If I would have to market the oculus I would probably go with a strongly motivated referral system. LIke put up a campaign were you can buy your consumer version + a few posters + documents and then you would be expected to set up a ‘demo unit’ at school/work or simply friends and if 50 people buy a rift through you, you get the full price back (if the consumer version costs $400 than that’s the same as a general $8 discount). Or something along those lines, what you need is to get as many people as possible to experience it and something like this would be the best way to achieve that.

Great idea, getting people to try it is absolutely key!
