Samsung is celebrating the launch of their latest Galaxy S7 line of smartphones in Spain with a special Madrid event featuring ‘Gear VR Theater’, a shared ‘4D’ 360 video experience comprising multiple headsets and multiple synced motion platforms.

Samsung’s latest mobile smartphone the Galaxy S7 launched in Spain yesterday and in keeping with the company’s heavy focus on the phone’s use with their Gear VR headset, they’ve constructed a ‘4D’ cinema experience to show off VR to the masses.

The ride seats 24 people and uses multiple motion platforms synchronised with 360 videos displayed on each participants Gear VR headset. The ride is accompanied by an enthusiastic commentator, describing the action and encouraging the participants to react as vocally or physically to their experience as possible.

The 4D VR experience forms part of a larger exhibition highlighting Samsung’s products, currently housed in an impressive temporary ‘booth’ in Callao Square on Gran Via right in the heart of Madrid.

Samsung made virtual reality a central theme of their Samsung Galaxy S7 launch at its worldwide unveiling at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last month with Mark Zuckerberg taking to the stage to emphasise the importance of Samsung’s partnership the Facebook owned Oculus on the Gear VR. What’s more, Samsung made the Gear VR a key part of the Galaxy S7 launch campaign, offering some 300,000 headsets as free incentives to those pre-ordering one of the new handsets.

His obsession with graphical fidelity over the years has had him branded a ‘graphics whore’ (which he views as the highest compliment) more than once and he holds a particular candle for the dream of the ultimate immersive gaming experience. Having followed and been disappointed by the original VR explosion of the 90s, he then founded RiftVR.com to follow the new and exciting prospect of the rebirth of VR in products like the Oculus Rift. Paul joined forces with Ben to help build the new Road to VR in preparation for what he sees as VR’s coming of age over the next few years.
