Evasion, an upcoming sci-fi bullet-hell shooter from Vancouver-based studio Archiact, was previously confirmed for release on Oculus Rift and HTC Vive this Fall. Archiact today announced that PSVR owners will have a chance at the robo-bug killing adventure too, which includes support for AIM, the PSVR gun peripheral introduced with Farpoint (2017) last year.
Evasion, slated to arrive sometime in Fall 2018, will offer both single and team multiplayer, pitting you in a campaign against an alien race of robots dubbed the ‘Optera’.
Boasting four playable classes, Evasion includes two assault classes—the heavily armored Warden, and the lighter armored Striker, and two support classes —the Surgeon and Engineer, both of which can use a ‘Tether’ ability to respectively heal damage and boost their allies weapons. Players can use their Tether to snatch enemies out of the air and destroy them by hurl them against buildings.
The game is said to use ‘free locomotion’, aka smooth locomotion, meaning no teleportation. Archiact says in a press release that there are also “balanced options for all player sensitivities.”
Like the PC VR version, the Evasion for PSVR will include full body avatars, with inverse kinematics powered by IKinema.
It’s uncertain at this point if Evasion will include cross-play between PSVR and PC VR versions of the game (see update below). We’ve reached out to Archiact for clarification and will update this article accordingly.
Update (10:30 AM PT): Archiact responded, saying ‘Evasion’ for PSVR won’t feature cross-play between other versions of the game.
