First Google Glass, Now the Sensics zSight 810 HMD takes a Shower

A few months back, Google Glass took its very first shower. Now, Sensics CEO Yuval Boger takes the zSight 810 ruggedized HMD for a dip to prove its durability.

The Sensics zSight 810 is a ruggedized HMD for the professional market that meets the STD-810 ‘mil-spec’ standards for “shock, vibration, extended temperature, rain, salt fog and other adverse conditions.” In addition to being water resistant, the zSight 810 is rated to operate in environments from -4°F to 130°F (-20°C to +55°C).

The unit uses dual 1280×1024 OLEd displays with a 60° diagonal field of view (47° horizontal, 38° vertical), and a 10,000:1 contrast ratio. You can find a full list of Sensics zSight 810 specifications here.

The unit is also built to take a beating. Sensics put the zSight 810 through a test that no sensible person would let happen to their Oculus Rift. Of course the zSight 810 is designed specifically for rugged use. The unit is not publicly priced either.

Sadly the zSight is not rated for being fully submerged in water… the first such HMD will instantly have my attention for use in an underwater space-walk simulator.

I just have one last question for Sensics and their zSight 810… will it blend?
