The HTC Vive is on the move. As part of the company’s ‘World Tour’, they’re bringing their Steam VR flagship VR headset to Cologne, Germany so that attendees of Gamescom can see what all the fuss is about.
The HTC Vive, which was announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in March, then went on to storm GDC with it’s take on room-scale virtual reality, is coming to Europe – specifically Cologne, Germany – home of the biggest games show in the world, Gamescom.
If you’re thinking of attending the show or already have a ticket, then (and only then) can you register now for your chance to try out what promises to be the first VR headset to hit retail later this year.

Unlike the rest of HTC’s tour thus far, with demo’s given from a huge bus, the Vive will be making a proper pit stop at Gamescom with HTC taking a sizeable booth at the show – specifically Hall 10.1, Stand A-100.
HTC and Valve has done a great job at getting their hardware out into the world. Along with shipping an unknown number of Developer Edition hardware to selected coders last month, Valve and HTC have sent hardware and representatives far and wide, most recently providing the premise for a hackathon in London’s PlayHubs. That event lead to the following full video (spoilers alert!) of one of the most talked about VR demo’s, Valve’s Aperture Science robot repair experience – a demo you can expect to see at HTC’s booth at Gamescom next month.
Gamescom kicks off with a press and industry only day on the 5th August, followed by 4 days open to the public. Tickets are scarce now, but there are still a few slots available on Sunday.
