This is The Rogue Initiative’s Debut VR Fantasy ‘Crowe: The Drowned Armory’

Fledgling production studio The Rogue Initiative have revealed their first VR game project as Crowe: The Drowned Armory, an original sci-fi fantasy adventure which, from the newly release key art, looks promising.

The Rogue Initiative describe themselves as a “full spectrum production studio”, turning their hands to everything from TV and Film to immersive interactive entertainment. The fledgling studio founded by Amblin, Pixar and Disney alumni has announced its debut virtual reality title is a luscious-looking fantasy title by the name of Crowe: The Drowned Armory.

The studio has just unveiled key art for the episodic project (seen here) and they look great. As for the game’s premise, players will “take on the role of Crowe, a young villager who must interact with in-game characters to solve puzzles, combat an alien onslaught, and uncover the secrets of an ancient temple that could help unravel the true past of his society.”

Former Call of Duty producer Pete Blumel, co-founder and CEO of The Rogue Initiative said: “The team is currently deep in development utilizing Unreal Engine 4 and excited to offer a closer look as we progress. We’re dedicated to building the narrative and world of Crowe in subsequent chapters and across various mediums including mobile VR and animation.”

The studio, which also recently announced a creative collaboration with Transformers director Michael Bay, was launched earlier this year backed with funds from the likes of Presence Capital, The VR Fund, Colopl Next and Outpost Capital.

No word yet as to which VR platform Crowe: The Drowned Armory will appear on, but the studio has previously shown interest in bringing experiences to all major VR platforms, so time will tell.
