Gameplay Video: World War Toons on Sony’s Morpheus at E3 2015

Sony’s Morpheus had a huge presence at E3 this year with the system present in nearly 20 demos on the show floor. World War Toons by Reload was one of them. Here’s a short gameplay video of the game in action.

We’d not had a chance to experience Reload Studios’ World War Toons on Sony’s Playstation 4 VR system Morpheus prior to E3. The team were demoing a build using a single Playstation Move controller, with rotational movement handled by head tracking (you’ll see the player rotating on a swivel chair to accommodate this) and forward movement handled by the centre button.

The demo here featured various enemies and some fun elements including jump pads to add a little aerial flavour to the action. The demo also allowed you to morph into a tank at any point for some heavy artillery combat.

It’s certainly a novel way to approach the challenges inherent in VR first person shooter gameplay, although we’d need to spend more time with the game before we’re totally convinced by it.

World War Toons will be available on both Sony’s Morpheus and Oculus’ Rift VR headsets close to launch next year.
