The campaign is called VRcade Challenge, and there are more than 2 weeks left to throw your favorite classic arcade game in the mix. After the clock strikes zero, the team will then reduce the list down to a top 5 of most submitted games, allowing for a 2-week voting period to see which one is the lucky game to be chosen by the public. The team vows to build the top voted game and ship it on Steam.
Created for the Global Game Jam 2016, the team built a playable version of the NES classic Duck Hunt (1984) for the HTC Vive. The VR version takes original sprites and ‘voxelifies’ them to preserve the original 8-bit visual style. Because the Vive uses a hand controller, you even get your very own VR Zapper, which makes the obligatory ‘black frame/white flash’ – an effect used by the original game to locate your shots on the screen.
