3D engine giant Unity have been announced as a headline sponsor for the upcoming UK virtual reality conference VRTGO on November 11th. The company will also speak at the event, explaining why they believe VR is the future of not just games, but just about everything.

VRTGO is only a few weeks away and the conference lineup is now being finalised. Today, the organisers of the event have announced that Unity are to become the event’s headline sponsor and are scheduled to speak on their belief in immersive technologies as the next big event in multiple fields, not just gaming.

Unity have been part of the VR renaissance since the beginning. Unity 3D, the company’s game engine, powered the vast majority of virtual reality development for the first 12 months after Oculus’s hugely successful Rift Kickstarter campaign. They became the early standard bearer for the new wave of immersive technolgies and have remained at the forefront of both VR and AR ever since.

In addition to sponsoring and exhibiting at VRTGO, due to take place on November 11th at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Arts in Gateshead, Unity Community Evangelist Joe Robins, will present a talk on ‘Unity’s Plan for VR’.

“Unity already provides targeted tools to craft immersive VR experiences and we’re actively researching new and better ways to develop for these new technologies”, said Joe Robins, Community Evangelist at Unity Technologies  “We strongly believe that VR and AR will play a key role they in the future of not only the games industry, but training, visualization, and more.”

Due to take place on the cusp of the first wave of new consumer VR headset releases, VRTGO claims to be “setting the vision for the future of virtual reality and investigating where future and current developments in hardware, software, user experience and applications are heading.”  Attendees of VRTGO will also get a chance to try a wide selection of VR experiences for themselves.
