10. The Caretaker

A VR experience inspired by ‘The Shining’.

You’re the new caretaker at The Overview; chosen to single-handedly look after this remote hotel throughout the icy winter months. We join you on your first day of complete isolation; waking up very late following the end of season staff party – high in the mountains and cut off from the world by the first of the big snow storms. It’s time to leave your room and make your first check of the deserted hotel.
This experience is inspired by the fantastic Stanley Kubrick film, The Shining.

Version 1.1 features many improvements to the control system, upgraded audio and additional content.

6. Negotiator

Negotiator is a concept that I started developing two months ago for a competition, it is based around a cinematic narrative, inspired by stylish 90s action/crime films and documentaries. It puts the player through a series of scenes that take place from the early 80s to present day, telling a story of the main protagonist’s career as a negotiator for hire, set against a backdrop of evolving technology and complex geo-political situations. Each scene is unique and can be solved in several different ways, while swapping between different members of the team (ie Negotiator, Sniper, Assault Team). There will be a narrative section in-between each scene that reflects what happened and moves the story forward.

3. 11:57

11:57 is the first 360-degree horror film! The all encompassing nightmare is made all the more terrifying by making the spectator the main character of the film. This means that rather than just watching the film, you become part of the actual set making the action revolve around you.

Based in the UK, Paul has been immersed in interactive entertainment for the best part of 27 years and has followed advances in gaming with a passionate fervour. His obsession with graphical fidelity over the years has had him branded a ‘graphics whore’ (which he views as the highest compliment) more than once and he holds a particular candle for the dream of the ultimate immersive gaming experience. Having followed and been disappointed by the original VR explosion of the 90s, he then founded RiftVR.com to follow the new and exciting prospect of the rebirth of VR in products like the Oculus Rift. Paul joined forces with Ben to help build the new Road to VR in preparation for what he sees as VR’s coming of age over the next few years.
