The world can be a stressful place, and for many one of the quickest ways to relax is to turn to food. But if you’re finding yourself staring at the bottom of a Doritos bag more often than you see your own reflection in the gym, this weekend’s free access period with BOXVR (2017) might help get you back in the habit of getting up and burning off the week’s indiscretions.

BOXVR, a VR rhythm game from the fitness experts at FitXR, offers a number of boxing workouts that will get you punching to the beat of your own music.

Including everything from short three-minute warm ups to 20+ minute endurance workouts, BOXVR also records every workout and gives an estimation of how many calories you’ve burned over time. Reminder: a serving size for Doritos is 11 chips, which contain 140 calories.

The free weekend starts today, October 5th, at 10:00 AM PT (local time) and goes until October 8th at 10:00 PM PT (local time), which should give you plenty of time to figure out if BOXVR fits into your virtual workout routine.

Oculus Store users can download BOXVR here on Rift. Steam users can download BOXVR here for Rift, Vive, and Windows VR. BOXVR is normally priced at $20.

great news! maybe now people will see how pathetic of a rip-off beat saber is.

    • kuhpunkt

      Pathetic? Rip-off?

      • Michael Slesinski

youre unaware of holodance and boxvr im guessing…

        • kuhpunkt

No, I’m not. Just played BoxVR.

          • Michael Slesinski

..and you see zero similarities? thats right, beat saber is a fucking rip off of it (and holodance).

also having “just played it” means when i made the comment you were infact unaware of it.

          • kuhpunkt

Just because there are similarities doesn’t mean it’s a rip-off. Oh look, you can jump in Hollow Knight just like you could in Super Mario! WHAT A RIP-OFF! And no, I was aware of BoxVR for months. I just played it yesterday for the first time and it’s not as much fun as Beat Saber.

          • Michael Slesinski

“just because its a blatant rip-off of something doesnt make it a blatant rip-off of something”.. do you even think before you type? jumping is a fairly common thing for games to have.. if he ate flowers and started shooting fireballs though that would be different.. also if it wasnt a fucking metroidvania game.

to me its 10000x more “fun” to be able to use ANY SONG I WANT instead of having to listen to whatever gay crap the weeaboo game developer was able to afford to license for the game.. but i guess thats just me being a heterosexual gamer instead of a trendite pansy. the gameplay is the fucking SAME, so by all means tell me how its NOT a rip-off. mind you boxVR came first by a long shot, even though i still laugh hardest at beat sabers feature list.. first item: “Unique gameplay”! haaa! unique except that its exactly the same as box vr and holodance.

its pretty clear at this point that you are just an uninformed fanboy (which is obvious because you are clearly a HUGE fan of beat saber or you wouldnt be sitting here trying to defend it..YET you were unaware of the games OF THE SAME TYPE that came before it) which means anything else you have to say on the matter is meaningless.

          • kuhpunkt

Oh look, some Orbs come flying at me and I have to hit them WITH ANY SONG I WANT… that’s such a pathetic AudioShield rip-off.

          • Michael Slesinski

not really since audioshield is DEFENSIVE in nature (which is why i havent brought it up), came AFTER boxVR, and isnt direction specific. but go on and show us all just how ignorant you are by continuing to speak.

          • kuhpunkt

You got some serious issues if you’re really talking that much about some stupid games, hurling out insults and bringing up nonsense like your sexuality.

          • Michael Slesinski

my only issues are with the level of ignorance in this industry and the willingness of developers to dumb EVERYTHING down so simple-minded pansies will buy their games. your issues however seem to be mainly your intelligence level and lack of taste.

          • kuhpunkt

            ok

          • vtid

I think all the games you’ve both mentioned are similar. The difference with Beat Saber is they used a beatsabery thing which got people interested because of star wars and the media pushed the game into people’s faces. I would always choose audio shield over beatsaber since I can listen to ANY song or video I like. I can even do a live mix in vinyl reality or tribe and then play that mix in audio shield. Just seeing the word ‘beatsaber’ kind of pisses me off because of all the love it’s got from advertising and vr media. I’d never want to play it. It’s nothing new and it massively lacks features.

Immediate thought was Sound Boxing… But without the recording? And power ups!

    • Michael Slesinski

i mean.. soundboxing is REALLY bad. boxVR isnt.

  • leRAFs

The thing I don’t understand with audioshield and boxvr is: why is the red on the right side? Red is always on the left, on water taps, on planes, on boats…
